The Instructor

Vaidehi Gupte

Bharatanatyam Instructor · Taal Dance Studio

I am a Bharatanatyam dancer trained under Guru Dr. Sandhya Purecha for over seven years, where I built a strong foundation in both technique and expression. Since 2019, I have continued my training under Mandeera Tracy Chaudhari, deepening my practice and refining my artistic journey.

My training has been deeply rooted in the traditional pedagogy of Bharatanatyam, with a focus on discipline, precision, and storytelling. I continue to learn and evolve as both a dancer and teacher, bringing that same dedication into every class at Taal.

Trained in the Tanjavur (Thanjavur) bani — one of the most classical and refined styles of Bharatanatyam, distinguished by its emphasis on clarity, geometry, and expressive depth.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need prior dance experience to join?

Not at all. Taal welcomes complete beginners — both children and adults. Classes begin with the foundational elements of Bharatanatyam, building technique gradually and at a comfortable pace. The only requirement is a genuine interest in learning.

Classes are open to children aged 6 and above, teenagers, and adults of all ages. Bharatanatyam is a lifelong art form — it is never too early or too late to begin your journey.

Students are asked to wear a salwar kurta with dupatta, with hair neatly tied back. This creates a comfortable, uniform look that allows full ease of movement. You will dance barefoot, as is traditional in Bharatanatyam.

Classes are held on Thursdays (5:00–6:30 pm) and Fridays (4:00–5:30 pm). Attending once a week is a great starting point. Regular practice between sessions — even 15–20 minutes a day — makes a significant difference in progress.

Taal is located at Studio Hub, 1377 The Queensway, Unit 304, Etobicoke, ON. Exact unit details and parking information are shared with students upon registration.

Yes — reach out via the Contact page or email info@TaalDanceStudio.com to arrange a trial class. It is a wonderful way to experience the teaching style and see if Taal is the right fit for you or your child.

An Arangetram is a student’s debut solo performance — a significant milestone in the Bharatanatyam journey, typically held after several years of dedicated training. Arangetram preparation will be offered at Taal in future stages of the studio’s growth.
